Tim Loree for Los Rios Trustee Area 2
Why I am running
I am an educator, Army veteran, licensed pilot, and former trustee for Area 2 of the Los Rios Community College District, where I served from 1996 to 2006. I’m running to bring practical experience, a commitment to responsible fiscal oversight, and a strong focus on Career Technical Education (CTE) back to the board.Through decades of teaching at the middle school, high school, and community college levels, I have seen firsthand the challenges students face and the opportunities education can create. My goal is to keep Los Rios accessible and strengthen its role as a gateway to rewarding careers, technical training, and academic advancement.

Meet Tim
As a former community college trustee, classroom educator, and local business owner, I bring a unique and practical perspective to the Los Rios Community College District Board. Over my career, I have had the privilege of teaching diverse subjects from the sixth grade through the community college level, including mathematics, science, aeronautics, and aviation maintenance technology. This hands-on classroom experience gives me a deep understanding of what our students and instructors need to succeed.Having also owned and operated a manufacturing business, I understand fiscal responsibility, budgeting, and the vital role our colleges play in driving the local economy. My priority on the Board will be to expand high-quality vocational and technical training programs, strengthen pathways for students transferring to four-year universities, and ensure tax dollars are managed efficiently.I am committed to fostering an environment of innovation, energy independence, and lifelong learning across our campuses. With a proven track record in education and business leadership, I am ready to advocate for our community’s students, families, and workforce. I would be honored to receive your vote.

A note from Dr. Ed Stupa, Professor Emeritus, SEC:Tim Loree is not a cookie cutter candidate for a seat on the Los Rios CC Board of Trustees. Many eager, well-meaning candidates with little personal experience or awareness of the community college system, see this Board position as a steppingstone to bigger and better things or as a convenient resume enhancement. For example, former governor Jerry Brown never attended a community college but his first elected office was as a CC Trustee. But not Tim Loree.Tim is a homegrown candidate who has been involved with this District for the last years. He has experienced the Los Rios system from every angle: as a student, he has earned two associate degrees, one in a vocational program and one at the transfer level; as an adjunct professor he has taught both vocational courses and transfer-level classes. His work as an adjunct counselor has given him a keen awareness of student needs. As a taxpayer, Tim has always wanted to get the biggest bang for every tax dollar. With his BS degree in Education, his Master’s Degree in Counseling, and his eight years of prior experience serving on this same Board, if elected Tim will be ready to be a contributing member of the Board from day one.Formal training in education only provides a conceptual framework for understanding and addressing emerging educational challenges. Having this conceptual understanding is critical for planning and budgeting concerns. The resulting discussion with peers acts as a forum for creating thoughtful ways to address these concerns. But in most cases, it’s the ability to think outside the box that brings all the pieces together in a way that facilitates implementation. Tim functions effectively at the conceptual level but he is particularly good at injecting the outside the box thinking needed to get things done.Tim’s previous eight years on the Los Rios Board and his rich and varied educational background gives him a unique perspective on a broad range of issues facing the Los Rios CC District. Los Rios students, professional educators and district taxpayers would be well served with Tim Loree on the Board. Tim is a worthy candidate who wants, needs and deserves your support at the ballot box. lf you agree that Tim is the candidate you want to support, ask a friend to join you in voting for Tim Loree as a Los Rios Board Member in November.
